Question:

How can I reduce the appearance of corns? I have used the liquid over the counter corn remover, however, it only made them worse. I want to feel comfortable wearing sandals. Is there anything I can do to improve my toes.  Please help!

Dr. Toe:

Good question.  Dr. Toe says you can use a file to work it down a bit same as you would with your toe nail to keep it smooth, if it is fairly minor.  However, in some cases seeing a professional would be advisable and can probably be treated fairly easily as these are very common.

Dear Dr. Toe,

I have swelling on my second toe where it joins my foot and my toe is twice the size it should be.
My foot specialist here in Dublin is baffled. I have had an MRI scan, an xray and also a biopsy done but he still doesn't know what it is. I have been on a course of antibiotics but they have been no help.
MR Johnny ____, my foot specialist has shown my MRI to everyone he meets but still no one knows what is causing it. I am now in a foot boot to try and rest it. I am very frustrated as it has gone on since the summer.
I also attended a Rheumatologist thinking it was arthritis.

To date I have spend 2000 euro trying to sort it out.

Can you please help.

Nuala

Well, Nuala I am sorry to hear you are in such a predicament.  It sounds like you have had some good tests on it.  I have opened this up to other experts in the U.S.  perhaps someone out there reading this in the profession could shed some light and respond to me in which case I will then pass it on back to you and hopefully help.  This is a tough one and keep us posted on any progress!
